Brutal weekend, issue 1

This weekend was the most brutal weekend in a long time! Two event’s back to back!

It seems that we had to deal with almost every injury conceivable.

Friday started out with several cut’s, bloody nose’s and a severely dislocated elbow!

Saturday in Inchelium on the Colville Indian reservation was even more bloody. Those guy’s are true born and bred warriors! Indian grudge matches are always really exciting too! Our new member Charles "the wound specialist" lived up to his name sake by battling a 4" long by 1/2"wide gash on a scalp with visible skull, he mopped it and stopped it! he stopped that huge bleed! Among other cuts he also had to set a broken nose! I have to laugh, even though I had several injuries in my corner’s to deal with, he’s the one that had the most busy corner’s both nights! I told fighters in my corner to make the new guy work hard, and they sure did!

As if all that isn’t enough, We were on our way home from inchelium when we saw a truck swerving all over the road right in front of us. We new it was going to crash! And it did! Our Corner-Tech team sprang into action for the encore of the week end. One of my guys jumped back into my car and fetched the ambulance just up the street at the event location, while I stabilized the victim. The other two were directing traffic until help arrived and took over.

My team did a most outstanding job this weekend and I could not be more proud.

Awesome Evan Tanner Tribute,

The Oct 3rd 2008 U.C.F. Event in Spokane was unbelievable! Definitely a packed house!

The show started out with the most awesome, heartfelt "Evan Tanner Tribute Video"ever!

Everyone rose to their feet and removed their hats out of respect for Evan. We turned to the big screen and watched the very well put together Tribute! As the video ended I gave a fist salute from my heart to the last image on the screen and yelled Evan! The applause from the fans was immense and the appreciation for the tribute was very apparent! Then everybody participated in a period of silence as the gong was struck slowly several times in memory of the late, great champion, Evan Tanner. When a tragedy like this strikes our mma community, it is just like losing a member of our family (at least that’s how I feel about it)

After the tribute, this guy gave a very crowd pleasing rendition of the national anthem!

The fight’s that night were exceptionally tenacious! Those mighty lions from the den in Idaho left the sides of that cage bulging from stretched steel! Exciting cage fight’s with a spectacular light show is always a crowd pleaser! The fans were absolutely wild! I have never heard a crowd cheer that loudly!

We were actually quite busy that night with several cut’s, KO’s and bloody noses. By the end of the night I had accumulated a good little stash of bloody materials. I am always very thankful though when there are no serious injury’s such as breaks or dislocations. We do have to deal with them on rare occasion though.

Till the next issue!

Cutman Corner by Corner-Tech; Issue 3

First, Corner-Tech would like to mention our great appreciation for NW Fighting as they are one of the organizations that gave us our start! A Big Thank You!
Spokane Showdown 11 was a very exciting event! Promoter Bart Smith of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Spokane and "NW Fighting" has stepped up his game this time by sporting a "Cage" at Spokane Showdown 11 on Sat. Nov 1st, and in my opinion it was easily the best Showdown yet. A huge standing room only crowd of MMA fans roared their approval for 16 exciting cage fights including 4 NW Fighting Title Bouts that saw crushing knockouts, ruthless submissions and hard fought decisions! There were also some of the top clubs in the NW participating including The mighty Lions Den from Idaho, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Spokane, Team Psycho, Tri-Cities MMA and the Hit Pit!,
Team Corner-Tech kept pretty busy with quite a few minor injuries and that ref worked our team hard too! He ran that cage like a drill Sargent and demanded perfection! He is one of the best ref’s that Corner-Tech has ever seen and it was a pleasure working with him! It was a special event for us also as it was the premier showing of our new Corner-Tech cage-art display! We had been allowed to walk around in the cage displaying it to the huge crowd of mma fans, (which loudly expressed their appreciation) and then we had a group photo shoot with it inside the cage! I will be posting that pic as soon as I receive it! We will also be displaying our cage-art at all the future event’s we work!
